color in ways that are constantly
evolving and changing and
Bart field has been in the industry as
long as I have and I’m just delighted to
have the opportunity to introduce him to
you and to learn a little bit about his
backstory welcome Andrew I’m delighted
to have you with us Thank You patty it’s
a pleasure to be here so funny because
in my mind it’s hard to imagine that
it’s 40 years already because I don’t
feel old enough to be in the industry
that long I know exactly what but that’s
because we’re engaged and we love what
we do when people say to me what do you
think you’ll ever retire and it’s like I
don’t think so and as I watched your
videos over the last couple of days
preparing for this some conversation
with you I see that energy and passion
in your eyes as well thank you yes
I you know it’s what you can for me it’s
funny because I don’t like talking in
public but for me when you see the light
bulbs go on in people’s faces and you
see that that you’re giving them some
great piece of information that’s going
to help them with their career or help a
consumer with their hair whatever it is
it makes you feel really good and that’s
what drives me to do it absolutely well
I know you have an incredible story and
I wanted really to I could do a formal
reading of your resume but tell us to
give us the backstory how did you get
started in the industry and to this this
new exciting adventure that you’re that
you’re on at this point okay great
you know when I was a kid I used to take
my aunt to get her hair done and it was
a time when the hairdresser’s were
behind the wall and you know the
receptionist was in fact that there was
a makeup artist there and she used to
take these older women and used to paint
them up beautifully and make them look
absolutely amazing take years off their
life he wore really cool clothes and
yeah an amazing tips and they loved him
he was like the greatest thing that ever
happened to them so I’m watching with
something how fun could this be I
decided I was going to learn how to be a
makeup artist and I went to the local
cosmetology school and
in Miami and I asked them about it and
they you know said you could sign up for
makeup class for either for cosmetology
class you could sign up for the whole
thing
I signed up for the whole thing and it
during the process I realized I didn’t
like doing makeup but I really enjoy
doing hair Wow that’s how I got into
hair and then I was very fortunate my
first job was in the Bal Harbour shops
in um Miami which the anchor stores were
Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue and
I was an apprentice there for a really
great hairdresser out of New York and
got really amazing training there for
cutting and color and that was a whole
lot of fun and then I eventually went to
New York City and trained under colors
there so I just constantly enjoyed
playing with color and working with
color and color was what drew me in so I
just kind of continue to go behind that
with growing my color career in him but
eventually just became a color and what
was it about color that drew you in what
was the fascination there assassination
was you know cutting is very mechanical
it’s very precise and has a specific end
result and you’re very detailed when
you’re doing color it’s more like an
artist looking at a palette and you’re
working more abstractly
and that might say a cutter can’t work
more abstractly but in the world of
color you tend to work a lot more
abstractly you tend to look at the the
overall picture and you can tend to have
more freedom and and and just allow your
mind to drift with color to create all
these beautiful looks mm it makes sense
it’s that that you have that opportunity
to just be free in that process and so
hair color basically really became your
focus and at the time when you really
made that your focus it wasn’t really a
time in the industry where hair colorist
there was a specialization was there the
specialization has kind of existed in
the big cities mm-hmm where people were
just colorist you know I was in Miami so
I I colored her
and I cut hair as well but my specialty
became color I was moving out of
actually cutting hair but in the big
cities you find out a lot of it in
smaller markets where you find people
that just love color and don’t care to
cut hair but someone who loves to cut
hair and they love a coverlet set a
cutter both are equally as talented it’s
just a matter of finding somebody who
matches your ideology with how you see
yourself looking as a consumer and and
falling in love with that person doing
that for you and so tell us about that
if you if you’re a hair colorist are you
is the color sort of leading the haircut
or vice versa
well I think that’s like the chicken in
the egg
you know both will fight with you but as
as a designer as a colorist might might
love is to have the designer create the
image first hmm
and then I color to the image that they
created at it because now I know what
the end result is going to look like so
I can work on the final canvas if I do
it first they could end up cutting off
what I saw in the hair because they
didn’t see that in the hair right mm-hmm
that makes sense
absolutely so along the pathway in your
career you met um a very interesting
gentleman by the name of Leland Hersh
tell us a little bit about who he is and
what that led to yeah no that was a very
interesting meeting Leland Leland has a
very very unique background in the
industry and we’ve had over twenty five
year relationship now so it’s really
very special for both of us um he
started that as a young kid working on a
chemistry bench with his uncle making
hair color mm-hmm and then so he was
doing that every summer while he was
going to school and then eventually his
uncle sold the company to Revlon as
their very first hair color line and he
didn’t know what he was going to do so
he went to work for the man who did
testing for his uncle and this man did
all the color testing so Leland slowly
became a colorist you never cut Harry
never perm Jessica’s has always been
hair color and while he was there and
building a color Department in the New
York market before color departments
really existed
legend laboratories decided they wanted
to get into the haircolor business and
they contacted him and asked if he would
work with as a developmental consultant
between chemistry and marketing to
develop a hair color line for them so
that was his first entree into the
professional market of creating brands
for himself not with his uncle and that
went very well
amino color was retconned first line of
hair color was the first level hair
color system for the United States and
and hold on for just one second because
for those of our audience that are
consumers when when you talk about level
hair color explain what that means how
far you are away from black and how
close you are to blond so a level one is
black okay a level five light brown and
a level 10 is lightest blonde so it’s
where your hair falls in tonality
between that in determining what color
you want to make the person okay all
right that makes sense
yeah so I’m so you know he did that and
he was there for many many years and
then eventually left there and you went
to work for Clairol and made a lot of
their new generation products all their
professional products passing towards
second nature logics he also probably
one of the things he’s most proud of and
I know this for a fact because he still
is smile comes to the face every times
he talks about it is a seminar called
hair color USA mm-hmm and that happened
in Miami for 14 years straight over
30,000 people came fair justice came
through the door and it was a seminar
strictly dedicated to that profession of
hair color and how we as an industry can
really focus and refine our hair
coloring abilities to be the best that
it can be and it just a group of people
coming together to share ideas with the
greatest name in hair color like even
mom Vidal Sassoon’s hair colors and Neon
Trees was on stage every year for 14
years and what I love about that story
and that I heard you tell and I heard
heard you tell it in one of the
interviews I listened to was that it was
brand agnostic it was really the focus
was on technique yes
yes on the main stage
um you had eight armed guess artists
from around the world sharing techniques
there were eight different manufacturers
represented there and each of the use of
different manufacturers product but the
whole concept was about creating
beautiful hair color and opening your
minds the possibilities of what you can
do with hair color it was really all
about creativity really hair this is
taking ownership of refining what we do
with hair color right now and also there
was another fairly significant
accomplishment there too when when
Leland created some of the more modern
products for Clairol did I did I read
somewhere that they he convinced them
not to put the Clairol name on the
product yes um Clairol have started
their business as a professional
business and eventually kind of morphed
into a retail business and they wanted
to get back into the professional market
and that’s when they contact Lilian and
he came up with this idea for a
two-color named logics and it was King
the name logics came from that it was
just a very logical color to use and
very creative colors to use and he
talked to many said look if you want
people to get behind you you have to
call it logics you can’t call it Clairol
logics because they don’t believe in you
anymore you’re not making products for
the hairdresser you’re making products
for the consumer and they’re two
different people that come from two
different points of view hmm so you need
to come from the point of view of the
colorist and understand the chemistry
behind air color that understands the
ability to mix colors to create specific
end results and talk to them so they get
that and they kept the name off for many
many years and it was a enormous brand
for them
and it really got them catapulted them
back into the professional industry man
that makes sense because at that
particular time it was still very much
there was the professional and the very
much of a protected environment and the
tools that a professional uses is still
to this day is different than what the
consumer uses at home so being able to
create that distinction is is very very
important now so from there you guys
began working together when you were at
Claro is that where the relationship
started no actually I was working in a
salon in Florida and Leland had left
Claire Ollie developed a line called
right back okay and that was the very
first color depositing shampoos in the
industry they were designed to prevent
hair color from washing out and fading
and it was something that he had dreamed
about for a long time he came up with
the chemistry to make it work
and he started this company and and I
was you know working in Florida and you
know Florida you have everything going
against you with hair color you have
people wash their hair all the time
they’re out in the Sun they’re playing
golf they’re playing tennis and salt
water there in the chlorine what
everything on anything we have those
against maintaining beautiful they I
someone introduced me to the product a
sales consultant named sandy Forte um
she changed my life this product made my
life so easy I’d say 90% of my clients
bought the product and I never ever sold
one bottle to aquire mm-hmm all it was
what you explained to them that look if
you use this every other time you wash
your hair your hair colors not gonna
wash out and fade right they were blown
away right and so I started using a lot
of it Leyland came down to do a seminar
and then they asked me to be an educator
so I met Leyland the company was about a
year old and he saw me through one of my
seminars and he really liked my
presentation and stuff like that in six
months later he asked me to be the first
national educator for the company Wow
and then so yes so that I moved from
Florida to New York and he each packed a
bag he went one way across the country I
went another way across the country
sharing with salons how to use the
product the benefits behind the products
a great product it is as a retail
product but also the amazing product it
is as a tool for the hairdresser behind
the chair right and so um you worked and
really am
so what year are we talking I went to
work for Arctic in 1993 he started in 91
okay alright so 1993 and then you guys
work together and really built it up and
then what happened so we built it up and
then we be eventually launched styling
finishing and then the final thing we
wash with hair color or color called
enamels which was a really amazing hair
color line and then every manufacturer
came and tried to buy the company
anybody want to talk buy the company
leave Anna Michael had no interest of
leaving the industry selling the company
they loved what we were doing and then
all of a sudden L’Oreal decided they
wanted the company hmm Leland of
Michaels now the more they interested
anyone the more they said no therefore
they entice them and eventually it gets
to a point where you can’t say no so
L’Oreal bought the company and Leland
retired he went on an artistic spackle
in 2002 and I’m in travel the world
seeing our gems studying this geography
and stuff like that I was to work for
L’Oreal is the vice president of
education and events for them for nine
years and it’s funny because um they for
purchase now used to call you when the
gift with purchase okay I like that
WP uh-huh you know I stayed with them a
long time in if there was a lot of fun
and we had a great time and you know was
um it was like going to college because
I you know as an entrepreneur and
working in an entrepreneurial world you
do things differently and use creatively
and you do things I’m very you take more
chances right big blue chip corporation
a minute when I went to work for the
blue chip corporation you learn more
structures you learn more about how
things are done in a very structured way
and I stay there nine years and then
eventually went on to be a consultant
for them for two years and then leave
and called me and said I have a an idea
concept I want to tickle partners in it
with me and I said how could I not and
yeah I said today so we want to talk
about that but before we go there you
mentioned that working with L’Oreal from
being an entrepreneur that that you
learned different things in different
places you know less structure or being
artistic in the in the entrepreneurial
environment and more structure working
for the blue chip company did you ever
think that you would be working for the
largest beauty company in the world
never in a million year wasn’t even on
my radar weapon never was not once did I
ever since that and I loved every minute
I was there but it was never never my
plan like you know I meet a lot of
people that their goal is to be with one
of these big company and I loved what I
was doing I loved when I was behind the
chair it’s just I do things that I enjoy
doing you know that’s the great thing
about our industry is we’re in a
profession where we can get up every
morning and love what we’re doing like
generations before us where we where
people kept jobs for their whole life
that they absolutely hated getting up
every morning and going – right right so
tell us what was the inspiration then
behind a celeb luxury because today you
are working once again with Leland and
the company is celeb luxury what was the
inspiration that that sparked it for him
to want to come back well you know
fillers do it so you know hair color
continues to grow and there’s a lot of
new and interesting things happening
with hair color and you know um after
Lori I bought the company the category
kind of disappeared of color depositing
and stuff like that and and we were very
limited at the time with the types of
ingredients we could use the things that
we could do were very the things just
didn’t exist the ingredients can exist
and stuff like that and him having a
chemistry background and you know I
think he was a little bored of you know
all the travel and art collecting so
like that sort of started diving back
into chemical and he started to look at
ideas and concepts of ways we could
protect hair color today compared to
what we had years
go and he realized there’s some really
amazing ingredients out there that when
you fuse them together you could make
some really spectacular products that
never existed before so that was his
real thing it was he was dreaming about
it and meeting about it and then we
decided to do this and actually we
decided suit in 2013 and he said we’re
not going to launch a product till we’ve
made the ultimate product that we can
make and we didn’t launch till August of
2016 Wow
that’s how much development time went
into it because you know at this point
in his life he was retired he had the
money and stuff like that it wasn’t a
matter of going into the market and
making money it was about really his
heart is always about hair color and as
art is always a bit about how people how
come we make what should be that is not
and have consumers having better hair
color pair dresses having easier work to
do behind the chair and we all have fun
at what we do and and I think that’s
where we’ve landed today that’s great
all right well we’re going to take a
break and when we come back we’ll dive
in a little bit more and talk
specifically about what were some of
those spectacular eye ingredients that
will that allowed you guys to bring to
market something that is really unique
and special so stay with us we’ll be
right back

positive people and radio unites healthy
life dotnet welcome back thanks for
staying with us this is patty Schmucker
and you’re listening to radio a and B on
healthy life net I’m here with a
co-founder of celeb luxury Andrew Bart
field and we’ve been having a great
conversation about the history and what
led up to the creation of this new brand
that launched in 2017 celeb luck luxury
so Andrew tell us a little bit about the
technology the product and what makes it
different okay well you know it’s really
an interesting thing because you know
people don’t realize that you know hair
color fades for many reasons but the
biggest reason people blame for hair
color fading is the Sun hmm and most
people don’t spend enough time in the
Sun for the Sun to fade their hair color
hmm
when you think about it the big things
that take color out of the hair are
water it’s the universal solvent
cleansers because they’re removing
something from the hair conditioners
because they’re fighting for the
negative sites in the hair and then
today we have people that are very
excited about using a flat iron on their
hair mm-hmm that’s a very popular tool
but people use way too hot on their hair
and people want long hair they don’t
want to cut it very often and when
you’re using something that hot hair is
a fiber you’re burning the ends of the
hair which is also flattening the color
out uh-huh so you’re all these things
going against your hair color so the
technology is about in a sulfate free
base that has no proc site no ammonia
adding a small amount of dye molecules
in the cleansing base so that you’re
constantly giving back to the hair
the color that’s coming out of the hair
on a regular basis so you’re always
replenishing the haircolor that’s lost
I suppose if a client were to use this
every other time they wash their hair at
the end of the month the haircolor
village shouldn’t look any different so
now the colorist doesn’t have to put the
color on the ends for 5 10 15 minutes
they can pull through the end for just a
couple minutes for maybe the last 30
seconds a minute because yeah because
they’re constantly I mean most people
don’t really understand that that as you
mentioned earlier hair is a fiber and it
actually can dry out it has various
different layers and things like that
and color molecules are actually
embedded into that fiber so that that
whole idea of as you do these different
things like cleanse your hair condition
I thought it was interesting when you
were saying that why is it the
conditioners pull out hair color because
conditioners um
fight for the negative sites in the hair
so they they you know people want to
dishes that penetrating and add
condition to the hair so when it’s going
in is forcing color out ah okay
that’s interesting yeah that it it’s not
that condition is a bad thing don’t get
me wrong it’s doing what people wanted
to do it’s just in that process you’re
losing some color right and you know
it’s for us it’s fun you know we make we
make a few different ranges so we make
one called
gem lights which is for traditional
colors and most of the ones you use
every other time you wash your hair and
as I just share with you but we also
make a range called viral color wash and
viral color dishnow better for those
bright colors that we’re seeing so much
up and the bright colors are so popular
but the issue with bright colors is
using a ton highly preached hair that
has a hard time holding color and you do
a color on somebody like that after a
couple weeks of wash stuff some funky
in-between middle color now if that the
ability to sell them something to
maintain this these beautiful bright
colors are going to say looking
beautifully bright right right so but
let’s go back for a second so the the
celeb lugs today is
three or four ranges of product three
ranges of product and they are there
essentially leave in color shampoos no
you don’t leave them in you use them to
fight
two of them are shampoos even just like
shampoo okay wash your hair and mix it
out you don’t have to let it process on
the hair you let it fit on the hair
it’ll hold a little longer but it goes
really is much and then we also have a
range called viral color dishes which
are color based conditioners and those
are designed for people who love making
color changes on bright colors very
often because that has a really special
ingredient in it called bond fix hmmm
and bond fix actually we’re very proud
this as a young company we use
third-party independent testing our
clinical pressing the first use makes
hair three times stronger well it helps
go coupons in the hair and that’s a big
claim to be able to say to make sure I’m
stronger but when you look at somebody
who’s changing from blue to pink to
orange to yellow on a every two week
basis they’re constantly running
Lightner through the hair to make these
changes you need something that’s going
to help protect their because people
don’t want to cut it and they keep on a
plate keep wanting to play with the hair
color that’s the benefit of a product
like this right right in and again sort
of talking to the consumers who are or
part of our audience the health of the
hair is critical to the hair color
staying in because because pears you
know hair is like um a sponge you know
when a sponge is is is fresh and new
it absorbs easily and it takes things on
nicely and evenly and picks everything
up as the sponge gets older it gets more
porous and it starts to stay very wet
and it starts to harder for it to
collect the liquid and collect the dust
but whatever you’re trying to live up
here is the same thing when hair is
healthy and best you work on a good
source the color it takes beautifully as
it gets older and as
the fiber gets going out and there’s
people people Leitner’s on the hair and
blow drying and flat ironing and stuff
like that the fiber starts to wear down
it becomes more porous it holds more
water it’s harder for things to adhere
to the hair because there’s no
foundation and that’s why same products
like jet lights and viral are really
great for maintaining the color and
allowing it not to get to that state and
you know I we’re very very as a society
right now because you know you think
about it in the 50s and 60s the more
damage the hair was the better a
hairstyle state a week and people love
that and I grew up in Miami Beach as a
hair stylist eight five days they were
miserable make it stay a week right and
then we when we got into puns in color
you know Stefanie Powers was the hot
being and everyone was all burned and
pounded and then we were doing root
perms and all that in hair became like
pot scrubbers mm-hmm stop doing perms
and color exponentially and it’s grown
and grown and grown and resentment along
healthy silky shiny hair and as
consumers and as hairdressers we want to
keep the hair looking that way the best
we can
median strip to maintain that right
right okay great and so we’re going to
take another break and when we come back
we’ll talk about that claim that Andrew
talked about a three times stronger and
how important that is for them to have
achieved that so stay with us we’ll be
right back

Nets advertiser page radio your way
healthy life net hi there it’s patty
Schmucker and we’re here at Radio AM be
on healthy life net I have the distinct
pleasure of him of having Andrew a bard
filled with celeb lux luxury that’s with
us and we’ve been talking about this
incredibly exciting new brand that’s hit
the market in 2017 from the combined
effort and forces of Andrew and his
co-founder Leland Hirsch who has had
this an amazing history of developing
unique products in the marketplace
specifically for hair color so one of
the things you talked about Andrew and
our last segment is about hair health
and how important that health of the
hair is and that your product color fix
has been able to make the claim that it
makes the hair three times stronger from
one use did I understand you right on
that one yes it’s actually the name is
called bond six bonding okay three times
stronger on the first use and
continually makes hair stronger and
stronger as you continue to use it and
you know it’s so important you know for
the health of the Heather strength of
their to have ingredients like this but
also it’s so important as a manufacturer
to be able to stand behind your claims
because so many people throw statements
out there and and there’s no
substantiation behind it and you know we
actually
a company that does a lot of claim on
third-party independent clinical testing
for DuPont so you use a really amazing
company they did this testing for us
with bond fixed to show you know the
three times stronger hair we have an
amazing person who runs a chemistry
department at the our labs are actually
on-site earnings in the owner so she’s
really researched and found the best
people for us to work with and you know
even you know like viral color wash gem
lights color wash is a complete system
at of a clear product a clear wash to
use in between and a conditioner isms we
and that as a unique thing when we did
the independent study that when when
someone uses the complete system ninety
one percent less hair breakage okay and
you know pretty protection up to 450
degrees
91 percent thermal protection heat and
humidity protection for 24 hours so you
know these things are so important and
not just when someone’s buying our
products or not just when the
hairdresser’s using our products but
when they’re using anybody’s product
information so easily and readily
available to people online that it’s
important that they know that there’s
something behind the product today and
when right absolutely what I love about
your brand and in learning more about it
is that you have taken those steps and
as consumers that are listening to us
you know you can really do the research
on a website if they’re making any kind
of claim where there’s a percentage they
have to be able to present to you how
that percentage was achieved and it
there really is a industry standard for
third-party substantiation and that’s
really what celebs luxury has done is
taken and made that investment to really
substantiate what their product is doing
it’s not fluff there’s real science
behind it it’s very exciting to to see
that and congratulations for you and
Leyland taking that time to bring us
something that’s really authentic and is
in get results for people
thank you very much here we we you know
when you’re when you’re passionate about
what you do and then and giving an
amazing end result is what drives you
versus the finances of it anything
becomes different absolutely how to make
a difference you’re not out there to
just make money right what we look at
with and so um now that so we’ve got the
the range of product that is really
focused on being able to help enhance
and maintain hair color for client who’s
having services done tell us how that is
playing in now you know for the salon
professionals and opportunities for the
professionals in using your brand okay
well there’s a couple things one you
know they can use it at the back bar
it’s a great sink product for filling
hair you know a lot of times people come
in with their ends are really washed out
and you know if you got to fill the hair
it could take half an hour before you
can get to here called service whereas
you can just apply one of the celebs
luxury colors to the end and then put
the color over it you’re going to get
beautiful color so there’s a lot of
things that they can do with it using
their artistic abilities at the sink to
really grow it and then from a consumer
point of view that we have 10/10 gem
light colors we have ten viral color
washes ten viral color dishes so there’s
a color for everybody but the most
amazing part from a consumer and a
hairdresser point of view is the so on
to make what we call a mix a color brain
mix where the hairdresser chooses their
expertise and fills an empty retail
bottle with multiples homes to be the
exact color maps for their client Wow
okay because every you know like when
when you paint a wall whatever is
underneath the wall determines what the
end result is of the color same thing
with hair there’s all kinds of tones
under the hair so the end result is the
result of the tones in the hair and the
color the hairdresser puts over it now
the hair dissipate create the
perfect match for their client to use at
home so they you know they found that
with the clear products they alternated
in the shower the client is now part of
their color service at home maintain
their hair color the hair color looks
better than it’s ever looked before and
it’s a win-win for everybody as much as
I hate that statement it’s true it’s
like everybody wins when when the hair
is in that much needs to color that well
and in that great condition right right
so one of the things that’s different
about bringing a new brand to market in
2017 as compared to you know years ago
is that there is more of a direct
interaction between the brand and the
consumer than we’ve ever had before tell
us a little bit about how celeb luxury
is playing directly with the consumer as
compared to before well I think the two
biggest game changers are Facebook and
Instagram and the great thing about it
is you know like we talked about earlier
you know online you can get people are
very informed and stuff like that but
the beauty of Facebook and Instagram and
what makes it really amazing for a
manufacturer is we don’t don’t we own
the page we don’t really own the page
mm-hmm there is all kinds of
hairdressers posting different things
that they’ve done for hair and different
products that the clients using from
from select luxury and even some some
consumers post their pictures of what
other hair looks online so you’re
getting consumer endorsements you’re
getting hair dress endorsements about
the product because you know it’s very
easy for a manufacturer to create a
perfect world when we want to show you
something but when a consumer hair does
a post online and shares information and
there’s all kinds of comments below it
where people ask questions and the
hairdresser answers the question I
answer the question you’re hearing it
from sumit who’s really using it mm-hmm
I’m gonna love the product right if I
didn’t love it right someone else in the
outside world is saying how great it is
how cool was that
absolutely absolutely and it goes back
to that idea of being authentic and
being able to deliver real results so
all right well we’re going to take our
last break and when we come back we’ll
focus our efforts a little bit more on
the actual industry and talk about some
of the things that you’re doing to
involve the industry and develop the
education so stay with us don’t go away
we’ll be right back

welcome back for our last segment this
is patty smoker at Radio am beyond
healthy life net and remember that our
program sponsor is Alex and T the first
customized nail color I’m here with
Andrew Barr feel from a celeb luxury and
we’ve been talking about this amazing
brand that they have brought to market
in 2017 and that is really making a
difference in terms of maintaining hair
color and we have really brought to the
market new technology Andrew tell us a
little bit about the education you
started with Leland in a education
capacity is education going to be an
important part of this new brand
absolutely but you know education in the
year 2018 versus in the year 1993 is
very very different
as a company we plan to offer in salon
education and we think that’s important
but the reality of hairdresser having
time for info on education or willing to
make time because their lives are so
busy deafening cysts like they used to
you know we’re very busy and every time
a new a new devices and new devices
introduce them to our world we become
more busy busy we’re more connected so
that being so connected is a great thing
so we’re doing a lot of online education
we have a consumer and to our
professional website where we have a lot
of consumer videos about how to maintain
your hair color and protect your hair
color and things of that sort and then
we add the professional under the
website where we’re working with
hairdressers showing them how to use it
and things they can do with it and we
think it’s very very important a lot of
things as well we have a lot of thorium
cleansers people
we’re posting on our Sula luxury
Instagram page in our Salafi Facebook
page we’re posting their videos in the
educational realm as well because how
great is it to see Stacy in Iowa doing
something so amazing with it as well as
seeing Joe in LA doing something so
amazing with it because today the world
has gotten so small we’re not limited to
only the big cities being able to do
really creative work so the idea
allowing our end people who are excited
about our product to talk to our pair
dresses as well as so powerful because
like I said before we as a company are
going to make it perfect no matter what
that’s what we’re supposed to do right
when a haircuts are behind the chair
gets the opportunity to show off what
they can do with the product and and you
know being artistic is such a great
thing because I think in my artistic
realm you think in your artistic room
they think in their artistic realm so
the possibilities become endless for
what we can do with these products right
whether it’s the consumer and how they
do it or whether it’s the hairdresser
and how they do it hmm so there’s so
much fun we can have today with
education and so many new venues that we
can think advantage of that we can go in
for Swan’s and talk to the people who
rather see feeling do we can talk to the
people who like to be tech savvy and
love to learn digitally and you know
that and in anything in between so
that’s where we’re approaching
everything and anything and constantly
looking for new ways to get information
to people well it sounds like you’re
actually developing a new generation of
educators who are are providing their
insight providing their individual usage
in a very authentic way that’s both
educational but it’s also an endorsement
do you ever find yourself in a situation
in which somebody is doing something
that um if you’re like oh that’s really
great or just the opposite oh my gosh I
can’t believe they’re doing that well
yeah I mean you get people who like to
push the extreme
the one thing we always do when we
repost something that we’ve done that we
that we liked is we make sure that it’s
a feasible thing for somebody to do and
nothing bad can happen to the hair you
know you know sometimes for for whatever
reason a very creative colorist could
take blue gray brownish and pearl and
put it on a dark blonde and get the
right color that they want but that’s
because that specific head was the right
color to put that on right somebody else
did that who didn’t know exactly what
the details were that kind could end up
battleship gray and hate everybody great
there’s certain things that work because
of their creative ability and how that
one particular head was but you can’t
post that for everybody because it won’t
work the same for everybody
yeah so you’re fine you’re in a
situation where you’re you’re doing some
editing and and picking out those things
that have the the best application for
the widest audience as you as you look
for the to the future we’ve only got a
few minutes left and I wanted to make
sure to to talk about what’s next what’s
the vision for for the the brand and
fitting in with your vision for where
you think the professional industry is
going well vision is I’m Leland always
had as long as I know he’s always used
the same statement what should be that
is not what what do we need in our
industry to support our industry from a
product or a tool or whatever else to
make our work better to make our life
easier to make our clients happier so
we’re always looking for those things we
right now we don’t have the latest
greatest thing ready to go we’re working
on a lot of ideas but it’s constantly
dreaming outside the box just like you
know who ever thought we would be using
a phone with no buttons right I mean
it’s about thinking differently and and
that’s where we are we’re constantly
looking for inspiration from within our
industry and from outside our industry
to see what should be that is not and
how we can make
a difference in the industry great and
for you personally are you having fun
are you having fun at the stage I’m
having an incredibly fun time this is so
great and as I shared with you in the
beginning of the seminar or at the
beginning of the interview seeing the
light bulbs go on in people’s faces
seeing the excitement behind what we’re
doing that’s the driving force for me
knowing that we’re making a difference
in people’s lives and that they
appreciate what we’re doing there’s
nothing to make you feel greater than
that right right you want you want to
help people you don’t even help you but
you want to go along with people and
take the journey and something very
special I’m enjoying the journey right
and do you think that in this iteration
of the brand that actual hair color is
in the future
I don’t know that hair colors in the
future you know Never Say Never but
there’s a lot of a base and color lines
out there and you know you look how we
came into this industry we came into it
the industry in something that was
missing something that was already there
right so we’re really going to look for
the missing pieces versus looking for to
be there on top of somebody else great
well thank you Andrew thank you for
taking the time to share with us and
yourself and and your story and for the
incredible work that you’re doing for
the industry we’re real proud to have
you with us today it’s so that’s going
