  • Je m’tire à la Fnac. J’ai envie d’un nouveau livre, un roman peut-être. Qu’esse [Qu’est-ce que] tu lis en ce moment ?
  • Je viens de lire « Où es-tu ? » de Lévy. Un peu léger en fait. C’est pas un roman- fleuve. Cela pourrait presque être une nouvelle. Mais j’aime bien, quand même. Et si tu prenais le bouquin « Cécilia » sur l’ex-première dame de France ?
  • Mais il n’est pas interdit ?
  • Non, je ne crois pas qu’il soit interdit. [De] Toutes façons, ça fait un peu trop presse-people. Les éditeurs suivent le mouvement pour répondre à l’attente des lecteurs. Et t’as lu [N’as-tu pas lu] le bouquin « Une vie » édité chez Stock ?
  • Les mémoires de Simone Veil ?
  • Ouais, il est en tête de gondole. Il fait un carton.
  • Les mémoires, c’est pas trop mon truc.
  • Ah oui, t’aimes (tu aimes) bien les intrigues riches, les personnages pas [qui ne sont pas] trop parfaits, les ouvrages modernes quoi.
  • Oui. Je vais prendre un Beigbeder.
  • Ah ben ouais, il met pas mal la zone dans le milieu littéraire. Tu vas être comblé.

  • I’m off to the Fnac. I want a new book, a novel maybe. What are you reading right now?
  • I just finished “Where are you?” by Lévy. It’s a bit shallow, in fact. It’s not a full novel. It could almost be a short story. I like though. What if you got “Cecilia”, on the ex-first French lady?
  • Isn’t it banned?
  • No, I don’t think it has been banned. In any case, it’s a bit too Peoplemagazinish. The publishers want to cater to the readers’ curiosity. Have you read “A life”, published at Stock?
  • Simone Veil’s auto-biography?
  • Yep, it’s in the window displays. It’s a real success.
  • Autobiographies are not really my thing.
  • Ah yes, you like rich plots and not-tooperfect characters; modern novels, right?
  • Yes. I’ll get a Beigbeder.
  • Well, yes of course. He’s really shaking up the literary world. You’ll be happy.
