Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are some of the most vulnerable nations on earth, to climate change impacts and face great challenges in terms of adaptation planning and finance.
Exploring the issue, Acclimatise's Virginie Fayolle reports on developments at last month's Regional Workshop on Climate Change for SIDS, which took place in the Seychelles.
She is joined by Rodney Lui, monitoring and evaluation officer for the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP). Rodney speaks about the progress on climate adaptation in the Pacific, particularly with work undertaken under the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PPCR), the launch last year of the Pacific Climate Change Portal (http://www.pacificclimatechange.net/), and enhanced access to adaptation finance. In addition, he gave us some insights into SPREP experience in gaining the accreditation under the Adaptation Fund as a regional Implementing Entity (RIE). Since the interview, we've learned that SPREP has been successfully accredited at the last Adaptation Fund Board meeting. |
