The rape and incest exception to Utah's abortion law requires reporting. What does that mean?

Description:

Utah's new abortion law, which went into effect when Roe v. Wade was overturned (although the law is currently on hold while a court challenge is underway) allows for exceptions for rape and incest. However, the rape and incest must be reported in order to apply. KSL Newsradio's Amanda Dickson wanted to ask her guests on A Woman's View - what about the women who don't report the rape or incest? Who are afraid to? Is their word good enough or do they have to make a police report? Her guests this week include Dr. Laurie Sakaeda, psychologist and founder of A Helping Hoof, and Liz Sollis, Associate Director of Community Engagement for Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation.
