Description:

Welcome to February's 'intercurrent' episode.

Intercurrents are shorter shows where I share some bits of philosophy, archival readings, materia medica and more of the juicy bits that don't make it into the long-form interview episodes.

This month I'm making good on a promise I made several months go when I read Constantine Herring's essay on How to Study Materia Medica (E033). I said that I would try the method and report back, and now I finally am.

I've been having talks with myself about getting better at studying materia medica regularly. I agree with Herring, who says you cannot rely on other people's cases, or even your own cases, to study materia medica. We must have a dedicated practice.

I have found that I really like Herring's method, though I have made some of my own adjustments, which I share in the episode.

I chose Sambucus nigra because I recently studied it after using it successfully in a case with a small patient in my practice. I found Herring's model really helped me to understand the dynamic of the remedy, and to remember it more easily.

Do YOU have a method for studying materia medica? I'd love to hear about it! Share in the Facebook page, or drop me an email! concentrichealing@gmail.com
