The Internet's First Amendment: The New Fight For Net Neutrality

Category: News & Politics

Publish Date: 2017-05-31 21:51:00
Description: Some call it "the First Amendment of the internet": keep all data flowing free, and fast. The head of the Federal Communications Commission says Obama-era rules need to change so business isn't harmed. Consumer advocates say moves to loosen the rules would largely leave the industry to police itself. How do we keep the internet open, free and competitive? Our panel includes Tom Wheeler, former chairman of the FCC, Thomas Hazlett, director of the Information Economy Project at Clemson University, Cecilia Kang, technology reporter for The New York Times, Craig Aaron, president and CEO of the advocacy group Free Press, Jonathan Spalter, CEO of USTelecom, a trade group that represents broadband providers, and Matthew Berry, chief of staff for FCC chairman Ajit Pai. Then, we'll end today's podcast on a lighter note — a behind-the-scenes look at becoming a contestant on "Jeopardy!"
