As the country commemorates the Juneteenth holiday, we wanted to add some perspective to the significance of the day by looking back at the history of being black in America and the future.
This week we'll talk to a living connection to our country's troubled racial history. Daniel Smith is the son of a slave. He'll share with us the stories he heard from his father, his perspective on the social movements that impact our world today, and his hopes for the future.
We'll also be joined by Councilwoman Inez Barron, who, along with her husband, have been the leaders of a bill to conduct a study on how to determine reparations for black people in New York. |
