When it comes to what to eat and which foods are best for your health – and the health of the planet – there is a lot of conflicting information out there. It seems like every day there is a new diet trend or study that completely throws everything we thought we knew out the window. On this podcast, we’re focused on figuring out how to best nourish ourselves without starving the planet, so I decided to talk to a health professional to help clear some of the facts. Dr. Michelle McMacken is a board certified internal medicine physician at Bellevue Hospital and an assistant professor of medicine at NYU School of Medicine. She is an advocate for plant-based nutrition and has helped transform the lives of many of her patients by focusing on their food choices and guiding them to improve their overall well-being through healthy eating and lifestyle modifications. In our conversation, we touch on a variety of issues like how to cut through the health hype and determine how you can use food to obtain your optimum health. She covers whether or not counting calories or tracking your protein is really necessary, if saturated fat is something you need to avoid, and shares stories of patients that were able to reduce or eliminate their reliance on medication thanks to simple diet changes. Michelle has made it her life’s mission to help people stay healthy and live their very best lives. If you want to learn more about how you can start living yours – listen in!
