Hey there, It’s Nick Kemp here with Sandwich Eikaiwa Podcast 11

Thank you for joining me again. I hope you are happy, and I hope you are enjoying life.
A few days ago I was speaking to a friend who told me hamsters are becoming a social media trend in Japan, not for their furry face or adorable tiny size, but rather for their butts.
I thought this was a bit strange, so I went online and googled it and discovered the ハムケツ fad, and that hamster owners were sharing photos of their pet’s buttocks online.
ハムケツ - Only in Japan!
So, what do you think about this ハムケツ fad?
I have read that three photo books have been published and there is a Facebook page devoted to Hamster bums.
- Do you think hamster butts are cute?
- Do you own a hamster?
- Are you thinking of getting a hamster because of their bums are cute?
- How long do you think this craze will last?
- Is this another example of kawaii culture?
Now, the word kawaii means cute in English, yes?
Do you know any other words that share the same meaning a cute? Here are two - adorable and loveable
Adorable describes a person or animal that is easy to love because they are so attractive and often small.
Loveable - having qualities that make a person or animal easy to love.
Examples
Adorable - Hamsters are so adorable. Their behinds are so cute. Loveable - Hamsters are so lovable. I could play with them all day.
In today’s lesson we are going to learn how to express opinion with strong emotion with the word How followed by an adjective.
For example:
How cute!
How adorable!
How loveable!
