Jordan Peterson recently had some things to say to the church.

Segment 1

Why is Jordan Peterson so popular?

In a recent video he shares concern for young men.

Let’s hear his lecture to the Church.

Our goal is not creating a more productive planet, but to glorify Jesus Christ and lift Him up.

The Church has the tools to reach young people and provide what they are clamoring for, but we’ve dumbed things down so much.

They are looking.. but where are they finding guidance?

Jordan Peterson has good points, but he also tends to be a little off.

We proclaim Christ and Him crucified.

Segment 2

The youth want to work, we’re giving them games.

Dr. Jordan Peterson, in a recent salvo, challenges the Christian Church.

Young people are looking for more, they are looking for transcendence and we’re offering them zip lines and rap music.

We’ve dumbed down Christianity and the group most effected, are the youth.

The Christian Church is not putting them to work.. We’re not offering them loftier things.

Jordan Peterson is shouting out to the Churches to get involved.

He has shared some truth we should examine.

The pronoun debate it over.. Everybody’s pronouns are me, myself and I.

-What if it wasn’t all about you?

Going back to the past is wisdom.. it’s not a horror movie.

-Invite young men.. Buy a billboard, print flyers .

-Tell the young men how to dress, tell them how to act.

-As more, not less, of young people.

We could ignore this because he’s not a believer, or we could consider what he’s saying.

Segment 3

Where has the Protestant Work Ethic gone?

How do you encourage your child to be the hardest worker?

It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, your should be the hardest worker and your boss should see it.

How do we instill that into our children?

It’s a little more difficult today than in days past.

A new book from Mary Beeke – Teach them to Work.

“God invented work, He was the first to work creating everything.”

We are made in God’s image, that’s why we work.

If the totality of your parenting is “do this, do that” you’re going to find push back.

How about trying something more instructive and positive?

Adam worked… He was put in charge of the earth.

First, he named all the animals of the earth.

So many kids feel like they’re losers because of social media.

Work can become a burden if we’re not careful.

Teaching them work is good prepares them for adulthood.

Our understanding of how the world operates is caught more than it’s taught.

Segment 4

Everybody’s working for the weekend….except Protestants.

We choose careers based on what makes us happy.. back in the day of the Protestant reformers your career chose you.

Working a 40 hour work week, corner offices, being happy with your job is a modern day mindset.

Historically children were part of the family’s work.

Social media pulls you away from community.

Detached parenting is very prevalent today.

Work done together is more enjoyable.

Start young.

Establish good habits.

Teach them with patience and let them make mistakes..

Parental example is powerful.

Children respond to expectations.

Consider restructuring things in your family.

You don’t like going to work with a barking boss, don’t be that type of boss toward your kids.
