As there is a lot to learn about prayer, there is also a lot to unlearn.

Do not pray like the hypocrites who pray to be seen.
God who sees in secret rewards openly. Understand that even conversations that happen in a secret place have an open reward.

Do not use vain repetitions
(Matt 6:7-8 )
Jesus emphasized importunity in prayer. However, the difference with vain repetition is in the motive
Not all repetition is vain
Eg Worship (Rev 4:8 ) and Prayers of Consecration.

Things you contend for in warfare follow naturally a man of intimacy.

Have the right focus in prayer.
