Headlined by Chris Hemsworth, Extraction 2 (2023) is a ballistic action sequel, courtesy of former stuntman turned directior, Sam Hargrave. Featuring an incredibly slick, 21 minute and 7 second long “oner,” or one-take action sequence, Extraction 2 successfully ups the action ante when compared to the first film, though sadly only for as long as that splendid sequence lasts. Thin in terms of plot and characterization, Extraction 2 sadly repeats many of the same emotional beats from the first film, and rarely outright exceeds the action spectacle of the original outside of the aforementioned one-take sequence. A quality action film through and through, Extraction 2 stands head and shoulders above your average RedBox actioner, though it overstays its welcome somewhat, and occasionally feels as if it should have been a brilliant 21 minute short rather than a 2 hour Netflix feature.
