Western nations are slapping sanctions on Russia, after Moscow approved treaties with two separatist regions in Ukraine's east, and sent troops to the area.  
Russia's Foreign Ministry is also pulling its diplomatic staff from Ukraine, saying it's to protect their lives and safety.  
Ukrainian journalist Iryna Matviyishyn told Mike Hosking there's a lot of uncertainty about what'll happen next. 
“Here in Ukraine people are prepared for anything and we hope it won’t get any further than front line.”
