Description:

It’s a new week and with it some new updates from the government. Following today's level alert announcement, New Zealand will be heading to Level 3 next Tuesday, but Sarah asks in today’s poll – is the government getting the balance of economy and public health right?

First up on today’s show, Sarah welcomes the National Party’s finance spokesman Paul Goldsmith to the show to discuss the Government’s and Treasury's plans for economic and trade recovery and he’ll take your questions.

Then, Sarah chats to Mike Petersen about why he wants to reach a consensus on freshwater reforms as soon as possible, as well as its progress and rising protectionism in our global markets.

KPMG’s Global Head of Agribusiness, Ian Proudfoot, joins Sarah to chat about the Agri-food sector’s new normal post-covid-19. Ian highlights the importance of quickly adapting to new consumer needs and promoting NZ produce in new ways.

To finish the show, Sarah is joined by Matt Jones from AgStaff to discuss the serious staffing pinch across the primary sector while unemployment rates continue to rise. Matt says he’s got hundreds of primary industries’ placements to fill right now and there’s going be hundreds more as New Zealand climbs out of the covid-19 pandemic.

Sarah Perriam, the host of Sarah's Country, is joined in self-isolation still broadcasting from the Lincoln University campus as an ‘essential service’ with her guest co-host, her Irish producer, Joel Rock.
