KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When you first launch a practice it’s only your friends that come for treatment but if you work at it and market yourself and the service you provide, people will start to come.
  • Connecting your clinic to the local community is essential to building your network and growing your patient numbers. Often people don’t know who to go to but if you’re a pillar in your community it will become the go-to practice for patients to find a solution for their pain.
  • Osteopathy will continue to develop and have a larger part to play with the whole body with treatment for the heart and head. Osteopathy is more than what you can do with your hands, it’s also about what you say and how you interact with them to find the key to solving their problem.

BEST MOMENTS

  • “I wanted to be an Osteopath because I wanted to help people”
  • “I opened the first Osteopathic clinic in Cascais and both the Portuguese and British started to come”
  • “Do what you love and talk to people about your work because you are changing peoples lives”
  • “We don’t cure people, we help to make people better and patient engagement is the key”
  • “Osteopaths help patients on lots of different levels”
