Description: Master Plumbers is telling its members to no longer accept fixed price contracts, until prices for products stabilise. It's citing price increases as much as 30 per cent for PVC piping products, which trades, often working on fixed-price contracts, are being forced to absorb. Master Plumbers is telling members to ensure all contracts include a clause allowing for escalating product costs, enabling these costs to be passed on to clients. It is also advising members that they can include a temporary fuel surcharge , on top of their standard call out fee. Master Plumbers Chief executive Greg Wallace says the increasing costs, resulting from the Iran war, are putting small businesses at risk, and suppliers are restricting purchases, to normal trading volumes. Meanwhile, major contractors in infrastructure are facing signlficant cost burdens, with diesel well over double what it was before the war began 40 days ago. Civil Contractors NZ chief executive Alan Pollard says he's concerned it could take as long as five years, to bring costs back down.
