The New Zealand Medical Association's deputy chair is calling for a comprehensive support plan for after this outbreak.  
Vanessa Weenink told Andrew Dickens hospitals have had to keep people away to manage the overload of infectious disease. 
“We have to shut down elective surgeries, for example, which is happening in hospitals and that then just adds to the backload of things like cancer care and all sorts of other things.”
