General Colin Powell, the nation's first black Secretary of State, has died from complications related to Covid-19. Powell had multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells which suppress the body’s immune response, as well as Parkinson’s. As many public figures pay their respects today, Madeleine Albright, who preceded Powell as Secretary of State said, “he was one of the “warmest, kindest, smartest, and patriotic" people she had met.
