Description:

Don starts the show with the news that the Department of Justice has released new videos of the Capitol insurrection and with a reflection on former President Obama’s words that the insurrection reminds us that “we can’t take our democracy for granted.” CNN Senior Legal Affairs Correspondent Paula Reid joins Don to explore the implications the newly released videos have for the ongoing investigation into the insurrection.

Tomorrow, the voting rights bill will face a Senate vote despite almost certain failure. Former Chief Strategist for President George W. Bush Matthew Dowd joins to talk about the importance of this moment. Then, with hours until the polls open for the New York City mayoral vote, candidate Kathryn Garcia joins to lay out her plans for combatting crime in the city.

Later, co-founder of Black Voters Matter LaTosha Brown joins to discuss the need for the abolition of the filibuster and the importance of the For The People Act.

The Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling which opens the door for student athletes to receive more education-related benefits. CNN Contributor Bob Costas explains the details. After, Don, Rep. Austin Scott, and Rep. John Garamendi discuss the Navy’s denial of Cameron Kinley’s request to delay his military service so he can play in the NFL.

Finally, Emory University School of Medicine offered a formal apology over 60 years after rejecting an applicant because of his race. The applicant, Dr. Marion Hood, joins Don to explain what today’s apology letter means to him.
