BREAKING NEWS: The Supreme Court of Texas has refused Governor Greg Abbott's request to intervene in the case of mask mandates by several jurisdictions. The Lower Court ruling allows school districts to require masks in their schools. CNN’s Dr. Jonathan Reiner joins to discuss this development.

Evacuation chaos continues in Afghanistan as we learn more than a dozen U.S. diplomats wrote an internal memo to the Secretary of State Antony Blinken in July, calling to get Afghans out before the country collapsed. President Biden denies advisers argued for keeping a U.S. Military presence in the country and pushes back on the idea that 20 years after 9/11, Afghanistan is back to square one. CNN’s Nick Paton Walsh reports from Kabul on the slow progress of evacuating Americans and Afghans.

A self-identified Trump supporter, Floyd Ray Roseberry who called himself a patriot and said “Democrats need to step down”, drove a black pickup truck onto the sidewalk in front of the Library of Congress this morning. He was live streaming from the scene at the time. A Facebook video showed him holding a canister he said was a bomb and talking about revolution.

Mask wars: as the delta variant sweeps across the country, Cobb County School District stands by optional masks as some parents ask for more protection for their children. 240 local doctors have sent a letter to the Cobb County Board of Education, supporting these parents’ concerns. Pulmonary Doctor and Cobb County Parent Dr. Timothy Len, joins to give his perspective.

Finally, in less than a month, California voters will go to the polls to decide if they want to recall their Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom. The leading Republican candidate hoping to replace Newsom is a conservative Talk Radio host Larry Elder, a Trump supporter known for his inflammatory rhetoric. CNN's Kyung Lah reports.
