Description: Aotearoa is at least a decade behind in blood cancer treatments, and that is driving highly trained doctors offshore, as well as patients according, a New Zealand haematologist working in Australia. It comes as blood cancer patients with Meyloma are forced to move to Australia to get drugs that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars here but are virtually free across the Tasman. New Zealand-trained haematologist Professor Judith Trotman works in Sydney and treats medical migrants from Aotearoa, she spoke to Lisa Owen.
