Description: Ageing infrastructure, persistent delays in recruiting staff and an increasing demand for services have been identified as some of the issues facing Nelson Hospital. A review was commissioned after several doctors spoke to media about their longstanding concerns over staffing and patient safety. But it stopped short of explaining how these problems would be solved. Anaesthetist at Nelson Hospital and the president of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, Dr Katie Ben spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.
