New era for Rekohu Chatham Islands with treaty settlement progress

Category: News & Politics
Duration: 00:03:35

Description: It's a new era for Aotearoa's most remote population - the Chatham Islands. One of its iwi Ngāti Mutunga o Wharekauri has struck an agreement in principle for a treaty settlement with the Crown. The milestone came during Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's first trip to the Chathams to open the archipelago's very own museum. Our political reporter Anneke Smith filed this story from the easternmost point of New Zealand.
