Impact is an intriguing word. Isn't it?

There are a lot of challenges that come along with trying to figure out your impact. For smaller organizations it's just a nice to do.. It's costly.  It's time consuming. And so we end up going on our assumptions or our hunches.

Other times, the measures we set up become the targets themselves and we lose touch with what is really going on on the ground.  At the other end of the scale, you can have too much data and you become absolutely overwhelmed.

Today’s guest, Maria English, the CEO of Impact Lab, which was set up a couple of years ago to really tackle the challenge of how we measure impact and communicate it to others.

Maria teaches that understanding your impact is not really about data - it's about creating a learning process. Yes. Data is just one input into a conversation about what we are doing, what we are learning and what we can do differently.
