In this second episode of a three part series on enlightenment, Anna relates her experience of meeting enlightened teachers in India. Kristina and Anna discuss the ten hinderances that keep us from waking-up. These ten hinderances, or “enemies,” were discovered by Buddha 2,500 years ago and still ring true today. Also discussed today: the three types of Buddhas (enlightened ones), and our decision to post ads. Please donate to the Indian Red Cross The Ten Hinderances to Enlightenment: - The belief in a permanent personality, ego (Pali: sakkāya-diṭṭhi)
- Doubt, extreme skepticism (vicikicchā)
- Attachment to rites, rituals, and ceremonies (sīlabbata-parāmāso)
- Attachment to sense desires (kāmacchando)
- Ill-will, anger (vyāpādo or byāpādo)
- Craving for existence in the Form world [heavenly realms] (rūparāgo)
- Craving for existence in the Formless world [heavenly realms] (arūparāgo)
- Conceit (māna)
- Restlessness (uddhacca)
