Season 16, Episode 77 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Tuesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Monday night loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
After initial thoughts on the Monday night loss, Alex and I quickly go over the transactions the team made on Monday and the inactive list that was released prior to kickoff against the Texans.
Alex and I get right into the Steelers' disgusting Monday night loss to the Texans and that starts with us reviewing the play of the team's offense. We talk about how the offense failed in numerous statistical categories and how the play of QB Aaron Rodgers was extremely poor. We discuss the key drop by WR DK Metcalf in the first half and how TE Pat Freiermuth wasnt targeted until the fourth quarter.
The Steelers did not have much of a running game to speak of on Monday night and their deep passing game was also non-existent. We discuss the red zone failures, inability to stay out of manageable third down distances and much more. The Steelers offense only managing three points off of three defensive takeaways is also highlighted.
We finally go over the play of the Steelers defense and how that unit struggled despite getting three takeaways. We talk about the Texans running game being incredibly good and the big game that WR Christian Kirk had. The Steelers third down defense wasnt nearly good enough and the unit also allowed four explosive plays during the game that were killers.
After fully breaking down the offensive and defensive play from Monday night, Alex and I get into discussing the future of HC Mike Tomlin and QB Aaron Rodgers moving into the offseason. We also discuss whether there is any real optimism right now when it comes to the 2026 Steelers.
Later in this show, Alex and I discuss the lengthy list of Steelers players that are set to become unrestricted free agents in March.
