Update (1:50):
Kate wants to send a big THANK YOU to everyone who tunes into the podcast – for sending her messages and joining our tribe.
Kate is leaving Diane Sanfilippo’s Balanced Bites team. She really struggled with the decision but she is trying hard to filter her decisions through her words for 2018: be present and simplify. She was spread really thin but the biggest impact on that decision was her family. Kate is excited to grow the Williamson Country Club business and her own businesses!
Charlotte is 10 months old and SO MUCH FUN! Kate is just enjoying her so much – she’s tearing up just thinking about how hard Charlotte was as a newborn. And is so grateful for everyday!
Today’s Topic: Courage and Overcoming Perfection Paralysis (5:50)
This is timely for Kate’s own life and hope it sparks something in your own life too!
You can use the momentum/shift of the new season to help make change. You can add something from your plate or remove something from your plate. It’s like a clean slate – start fresh!
Remember: It takes a lot of COURAGE to make a change…career, diet/health change, maybe adding a side hustle, or whatever it is!
Sometimes the biggest hang up is a fear of risk. You just need to take ACTION.
And often we don’t take action because we get stuck in the perfection paralysis. But you can learn as you go! One of the best ways to learn is when you dive into the situation, start taking action – and learn as you need a new skill.

Ways you can overcome fears and perfection paralysis (12:20)
Kate always recommends a pen to paper exercise – try these:
1. The ‘What If’ List
Exercise: write down all the possible negative outcomes.
Examples:
-What if we don’t have the money to pay the bills?
-What if I fail?
-What if no one reads my blog?
-What if no one likes what I have to say?
-What if it doesn’t look perfect?
2. The ‘Then What’ List
Exercise: write down what would you do if those negative outcomes came true?
Example:
-if I didn’t have enough to pay the bills? Then I would start trying to make money somewhere else.
3. The ‘Positive Outcome’ list
Exercise: write down the positive outcome from you making this change/shift
Examples:
-More family time
-Learning new skills
-More creative freedom
Remember: even if the negative/con list is longer – it doesn’t necessarily mean that those hold the same weight as the things on your positive list!
Other Strategies:
1. Learn to be great NOT perfect.
Focus on putting forth your best effort. Perfection is unattainable.
2. Learn from Your mistakes
Put as much effort into learning as you do actually taking the action or doing the job. Take the time to reflect and LEARN why you got the outcome you did. And the things you can change or improve for next time.
3. Celebrate your wins
Celebrate what you did do well, what you’ll keep for next time.
