Is it all over in a flash for a conflict that dates back to Soviet times? After winning a war against Armenia in 2020 and following a nine-month blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan overrun the enclave on Tuesday in a lightning offensive that offered no choice to Armenian separatists but to lay down their arms and negotiate. For the 120,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, there's a simple question as they look to the future: should they stay or should they go? Absent from UN Week this year were the leaders of Russia, China, France and the UK, but there was a main attraction: Volodymyr Zelensky made the trip to New York for the first time since last year's Russian invasion and even stared down Moscow's UN ambassador in a special session of the Security Council. Over at the General Assembly though, Ukraine's president also directed his wrath at Hungary, Poland and Slovakia for defying the EU's lifting of a grain import ban. Zelensky's North American tour is concluding in Canada, home to a sizeable Ukrainian community. Speaking of diasporas, a major diplomatic row erupted on Monday when the prime minister spoke in parliament, accusing India of being behind the assassination of a Sikh leader on Canadian soil. It's hard to believe Rupert Murdoch is actually retiring. Come mid-November, the 92-year-old media mogul will hand over operations of Fox and News Corp to his son Lachlan.
