We have a special episode for you today, the first in a series where Vedic meditation teacher Laura Poole will be chatting with each of our team members at Mahasoma. Our Mahasoma Meditation Collective came together out of a desire to do things differently and see what we could co-create, maintaining our unique individualities, while at the same time working collaboratively and within community. This new way of being and living together is something that is constantly growing and adapting, which is actually very lovely to have the space and creativity to allow Mahasoma to be whatever it needs to be for everyone who is part of it.
To give you some insight into who we are and what we do, first up is one of our Vedic meditation teachers, Sarah O’Brien. Sarah has a background in legal advocacy with a law degree specialising in human rights and administrative law. She is now a Vedic meditation teacher based in Melbourne and a founding member of our Mahasoma collective.
What we talk about - How Sarah came to learn Vedic meditation herself
- What she learnt about making change, both in career and mindset
- Sarah's journey of transitioning from being a lawyer to a meditation teacher
- Her passion for creating change in the world which looks a little different to how she thought it would
- The three parts of evolutionary change through the Vedic lens (creation, maintenance and destruction)
- How to engage with each phase of evolution
- The purpose and necessity of compassion
- How true compassion often involves strong action but is ultimately a freeing experience
- The misinterpretation of wisdom that leads to spiritual bypassing
- The dismantling of this misinterpretation and how to correct our vision
- Why we shouldn’t get defensive when people point out to us where we need to change
- The need for us to collectively dream a better world together
