Nikita and Iliya Bridan are identical twins and the founders of Oilstainlab, one of the coolest Skunkworks operations in Los Angeles. They have their fingers in so many different pies but are most well know for Porsche Half11 as well as the Dropped Alfa. The Canadians dropped out of school at 15 to get started early on their Car Design education. Art Center in Pasadena would not accept them as they were too young. Their parents could see how serious the twins were about their ambition and so the family went to live in Italy where the twins enrolled at IED. After some time in there, an image of Sasha Selipanov's thesis project popped up online. The twins were heavily inspired by this and decided to apply at Art Center again. They were now old enough and had developed enough and were successful in their application. I have known about Nikita for over 10 years. I only found out recently that he has a clone, equally as gifted. He and Iliya joked that there is a 3rd brother locked in the basement that produces all the work. These guys operate on an insane level, have a twisted sense of humour and are super nice dudes. I had always assumed that they must to A-holes, given how talented, good-looking, and successful they are. Of course, I was totally wrong! I will be talking to a cross section of people that work in the Car Design Industry. These will include designers, digital and clay modellers, vis artists and colour & material designers. The focus of our conversations will be centered around personal processes and experiences within the business. My aim is to demystify some of the preconceptions about this industry and give people an unadulterated glimpse into the business. I also wish to give the younger generation the opportunity to see that the people that these professionals come in different shapes and sizes and some of them will be unknown.
