Art is currently a Creative Manager at the California-based EV start-up, Canoo. He has worked for GM, PSA (Citroen), VW as well as Faraday Future and has done both Interior and Exterior Design. Art seems to effortlessly produce an ocean of awesomeness on command. He shared many of his secrets and processes, which, unfortunately, consist of hard work. If you are here, it's probably because you are aware of Art and his work and you would be forgiven for thinking that he was born with a Wacom tablet in his hand and a gift from God. He talked extensively about his early frustrations and how hard to he had to work to raise his skill-level. You will be hard-pushed to find anyone that will have a bad word to say about Art and that's simply because he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. I am officially dubbing him the 'Dave Grohl' of Car Design i.e. The nicest guy in our community. I had to pull the plug on the conversation at 2 hours as I had a sick dog that needed to be taken out. Those 120 minutes felt like 5, which is the best indicator of a quality conversation. Don't worry, we will do this again. Obrigado! I will be talking to a cross section of people that work in the Car Design Industry. These will include designers, digital and clay modellers, vis artists and colour & material designers. The focus of our conversations will be centered around personal processes and experiences within the business. My aim is to demystify some of the preconceptions about this industry and give people an unadulterated glimpse into the business. I also wish to give the younger generation the opportunity to see that the people that these professionals come in different shapes and sizes and some of them will be unknown.
