He has worked for Audi, Porsche, GM as well as Peugeot. Although still relatively young, Syd has been a prominent figure in the Car Design community for many years. His skills and prolific output are simply mind-bending and the envy of many designers. He credits a lot of his success to working out in his early teens that he wanted to be a designer and jumping head-first into the world of sketching and 3d modelling through pure intrigue. This guy has an insatiable appetite for experimentation, which has kept him ahead of the curve for most of his career. He can sketch, model, visualise and create in VR at a level that makes him one of the best all-rounded designers in the business. Sydney is resourceful and knows how to get things done. He is an amazing problem solver and seems to find solutions to all the brick walls that design throws at him. Growing up under the roof of a rally driver, Syd has long had a yearning to get out into the desert himself. I will be talking to a cross section of people that work in the Car Design Industry. These will include designers, digital and clay modellers, vis artists and colour & material designers. The focus of our conversations will be centered around personal processes and experiences within the business. My aim is to demystify some of the preconceptions about this industry and give people an unadulterated glimpse into the business. I also wish to give the younger generation the opportunity to see that the people that these professionals come in different shapes and sizes and some of them will be unknown.
