Whilst at Jaguar Landrover. he made the transition from his role as an Interior Designer and eventually left the company to join Geely UK as its Director of UX/UI. Like many other UX Designers, he took inspiration from companies like Apple and the emotional connection that they have built between users and their products through User Experience. Rob very eloquently gave countless examples of innovation in UX/UI that transcend menu graphics. We talked about lighting, sound, smell and touch. We also went off on a tangent into Vehicle Electrification and the complexities that surround this great revolution. There is a reason why every single Car Company on the planet is hiring UX Designers hand over fist and that’s because Cars are morphing into devices, devices that not only require intuitive control, but also exceptional experiences. That is something that can not simply be shoe-horned into a TFT monitor. It requires thought from the very beginning of a product/vehicle's inception. This was a very compelling discussion and it debunked so much about an area of Car Design that is so misunderstood. I will be talking to a cross section of people that work in the Car Design Industry. These will include designers, digital and clay modellers, vis artists and colour & material designers. The focus of our conversations will be centered around personal processes and experiences within the business. My aim is to demystify some of the preconceptions about this industry and give people an unadulterated glimpse into the business. I also wish to give the younger generation the opportunity to see that the people that these professionals come in different shapes and sizes and some of them will be unknown.
