These actions are what lead to a manhunt for Bourque that was launched and continued overnight and lasted over 28 hours. These killings were planned and anything but spontaneous, he dressed himself in full camo with several guns and ammunition attached to his body in order to draw out the cops in broad daylight. The moment the first officer showed up, is when the massacre ensued.
