Description:
This is the second interview between your host Travis Chappell and David Meltzer. David is the co-founder and CEO of Sports 1 Marketing and S1MEDIA house, two-time number one best selling author, and has been named a top 10 keynote speaker by Forbes and Entrepreneur. Marshall Goldsmith has recognized David as a top 100 business coach and an advisory board member of over 45 companies and charities. He recently invested in Splice and is the Executive Producer and host of Elevator Pitch and host of the top 5 business podcast, The Playbook. David talks to your host about inner fulfillment and how to get there, how to overcome things that have happened in the past between you and other people. Episode Highlights: Dave’s directive really became clear when he was five years old because his dad left. Dave believed money bought happiness because he grew up with very little. He grew up playing football and picked a college where he could play football. He learned that he could sell early and that’s part of why he went to law school. He found a way to weave sports into his first job out of college. All of Dave’s brothers and sisters were doctors and lawyers. Parents don’t tell kids what to do, they show you. You don’t do what you love, you learn to love what you do. How to change your mindset about your job - find the light in it. If things aren’t going the way you expect them to go, pray for someone’s happiness. Just because you’re financially successful doesn’t mean you’re actually successful. When things happen for you, you can have too much and it can make you unhappy. Spirituality and math go into Dave’s decision-making process. If you can create a “habit machine” then you can think about what you want to do and get out of your own way. List out three things in your life that you know are good for you, but you don’t do. If you believe that if you say “thank you” for over 30 days your life will be different and then you do it, your life will change. Getting growth doesn’t start without action, even small actions. We input data into our systems through the five senses, but our data is foggy. It takes one particle of light to cancel out a million particles of darkness. Neural pathways create habits and they’re impacting your DNA. We usually make decisions based on the opinions of others which is how you make huge mistakes. Be really clear and simply about what you want in life. Who you know is more important because it includes what you know. The Random Round What profession other than your own do you think it would be fun to attempt? Professional athlete If you could sit on a park bench with anyone past or present and talk with them for an hour, who would it be and why? Einstein He had the greatest grasp on how relativity and physics mesh into one. How do you like to consume content? Audio David’s favorite podcasts: How You Built This The Playbook David’s morning routine: Wake up at 4 am Meditate for 20 minutes Go to the gym from 4:30-5:30 Come home and focus on family from 5:30-7:00am Leave the house at 7:30 with coaching calls Execute on the daily plan Provide hundreds of dollars worth of value and only ask for $20 back What is your go-to pump up song? Instagram @davidmeltzer 3 Key Points: You don’t do what you love, you learn to love what you do. You have to detach your emotions from the outcome. If you want to do something every day you need to lower the... For information regarding your data privacy, visit https://www.acast.com/privacy (acast.com/privacy)
