The United Nations Climate Conference (COP 27) held in Sharm el-Sheik in November resulted in a landmark agreement to develop a dedicated fund to assist developing countries in responding to loss and damage as a result of climate change. A delegation of local leaders traveled to Egypt to participate in the conference and will share their experience and observations about global climate change negotiations. John Mitterholzer is the Gund Foundation’s program director for Climate and Environmental Justice. Stephen Love is the Cleveland Foundation’s program director for Environmental Initiatives, and Michael Jeans is the CEO of Growth Opportunity Partners. In addition, Jeff Opperman, Global Freshwater Lead Scientist for the World Wildlife Fund, will address the looming global water crisis in the context of the newly established Loss and Damage Fund. |
