A 67-year-old man and his dogs died in a Monday evening fire in Baltimore County.

Firefighters responded after 10 p.m. to a home on Cherrybrook Road in Randallstown, where flames were visible from the front and rear of the residence upon arrival.

The victim, identified as Herbert Thomas, reportedly exited the fire-filled home but returned inside in an attempt to rescue the dogs.

Thomas and two dogs were later found deceased together inside the home.

The fire was ruled accidental and caused by unattended cooking.
