Baltimoreans celebrating Kwanzaa on Sunday took part in recognizing collective work and responsibility.
The Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center hosted its annual Kwanzaa Celebration and Marketplace on the third of seven days for the Kwanzaa holiday. The Keur Khaleyi African Dance Company performed traditional dance.
“We are healers, we’re working with healing through the arts, but we’re also building. It’s a time to build together toward a common goal and to elevate our community,” said Mama Rashida, an organizer.
Each day of Kwanzaa follows a different principle that promotes unity for the African American community. |
