As an amateur, Conlan reached number one in the AIBA bantamweight world rankings, with achievements that include an Olympic bronze medal at London 12' and a World Championship gold medal at Doha.
Michael Conlan left RIO 2016 with a bad taste in his mouth. The reigning World gold medalist lost a controversial decision in the bantamweight quarter-final to Russia’s Vladimir Nikitin.
