The Malayalam language has evolved a lot over generations. It has now reached a point where it is no longer Malayalam, it’s Manglish - the language spoken by the majority of the new generation. How did they end up speaking Manglish, an amalgamation of Malayalam and English and forgetting their mother tongue? RJ Shilpa recollects memories of her school and college life where speaking in Malayalam was considered an offence worth imposing a fine. Is it too late to go back to our roots?
