Lone midnight. Pitch darkness. The smell of Palappoo (rightly called Devil Tree flower) in the atmosphere. The cackle of a woman faintly heard at a distance. Suddenly a woman in white saree appears out of nowhere. Isn’t this the typical concept we have of a Yakshi (Female spirit) from several decades? Mostly seen only in our horror films, we have been imagining this character the same way, regardless of cinema & technology developing by leaps and bounds. It’s interesting that these beings are usually portrayed as multi-talented folks who can sing, dance and even romance. Hop in with RJ Ramesh as he takes you on a fun-filled horror flashback from Bhargavi Nilayam to the most recent horror flick.
