Description: This Sunday, just before the moment of silence that will mark 100 years since Armistice, people observing Remembrance Day services will hear "The Last Post." A British Bugle call, it was first played for a funeral in Canada in the 1800's. Since the end of the First World War, it has become tied to public Nov 11th Commemorations. It's a practice that did not start with the military. It began with an anonymous bugler, somewhere on the streets of London in 1919. Alwyn Turner is a cultural historian who has written several books about military music, including "The Last Post: Music, Remembrance and the Great War." He joins us from his office in Chichester, West Sussex, England.
