Description:

If you read my blog post last week you know I tackled fibroids, how shockingly common they are and what you absolutely must avoid eating if you have them.

They are so common in fact that WebMD estimates that 80% of women will have had fibroids by the time they reach 50.

And that’s no small percentage….

We also discussed how uterine fibroids are just one of the many symptoms of estrogen dominance

So treating estrogen dominance is a essential if you want to prevent, treat and possibly even reduce your fibroids.

Let’s face it, no one wants to deal with fibroids. Besides being extremely painful for many women, they can interfere with fertility and your sex life. Not only that, but fibroids are the #1 cause of hysterectomy in the United States.

And let me tell you, you do not want to get a hysterectomy if it can be avoided. Your reproductive organs produce hormones that help you to stay young and healthy, even after menopause. Without them, you’ll need to take supplemental hormones for life.

But fortunately there is a lot you can do to reverse estrogen dominance and treat fibroids naturally.

Foods that Fight Fibroids

So besides avoiding the really bad foods, you’ll want to add foods that fight fibroids into your diet. Some of the best foods that fight fibroids are:

  • Fruits and Veggies– Full of vitamins, minerals and fibre, lots of fruits and veggies are essential to any diet plan. The fibre especially is crucial for healing fibroids as it helps detoxify the liver and move the excess estrogen out of the body.
  • Flaxseeds- Flax is a major player in the fight against estrogen dominance. Because it is a phytoestrogen, it replaces the more toxic estrogen in the environment. Be sure to add ground flaxseeds to your yogurt, smoothies and granolas and use flaxseed oil in your salad dressings.
  • Legumes (beans and peas)- Another fibre-rich food, legumes such as beans and peas work to carry that excess estrogen out of the body.
  • Garlic and onions– Full of antioxidants, garlic and onions prevent free radical damage to cells, particularly around your reproductive organs, helping to prevent fibroids. Raw garlic has a number of health benefits, including immune boosting properties and the ability to kill off bad bacteria in the gut improving your gut microbiome.
  • Cold-water fish (salmon, sardines and mackerel)- The omega 3’s found in cold water fish help reduce inflammation which helps heal uterine fibroids.
  • Eggs- Organic eggs from free range birds are rich in protein and the essential fatty acids you need to stay healthy.

To reverse estrogen dominance and treat these growths, you want to be sure to include these foods that fight fibroids into your diet. Using a caster oil pack as well can be extremely beneficial if you have fibroids.
