When the FBI goes undercover, part 2

Category: Government & Organizations
Duration: 00:34:20
Publish Date: 2018-07-05 01:30:00
Description:

For the first time, a retired special agent is talking about his more than 20 years of work in undercover cases for the FBI. Greg Rogers sat down with FBI Confidential co-host Sheryl Worsley in part two of a two-part conversation on undercover operations.

From Southeast Asia, where Rogers investigated pedophiles who traveled to Thailand, Cambodia and other countries to have sex with children, to northern Idaho and Montana, where he infiltrated militia groups, to drug lords in Salt Lake City, Rogers has seen it all. He's got the tattoos, paid for by the U.S. government, which he plans to keep - he says they make great stories for the grandkids. He talks about the challenges of building trust with people you know you're going to ultimately betray, and the death threats he's received, plus that one time a suspect bumped fists with him when he realized he'd been caught.

Want to hear more stories like Greg's? You can sign up for the next round of the FBI Citizens' Academy in Salt Lake City. Applications are due by July 31, 2018. You can apply here, or nominate someone to attend here. Any questions should be directed to madams2@fbi.gov.
