Proverbs
The word “proverb” comes from the Hebrew Word meaning “to rule or govern.” To “rule”, in proverbs, means to customarily “govern” ones behavior. To “govern” means to bring into conformity or to come into compliance with rules, principles or usage; impose regulations. For example, if you are a Believer in Christ Jesus then you and I should try to conform to the rules, and principles impose in the Bible. To not do so is not to be a true Christian or Follower of Christ.
Proverbs is a book that will teach you how to rule, govern, and get control of your life. This book is called the “wisdom” literature for Hebrews. I have found out, in my life and watching the lives of others, that learning how to “govern” your life brings success. However, I have also learned that being able to “govern” and have “self-control” is something that must be taught to you as a child by your parents. If you were not taught how to govern yourself, Proverbs is an excellent book to help you learn and it is not out dated. Those principle mention in Proverbs are still applicable today.
