Mighty In God, Not In Ourselves

Description:

It is Saturday morning, 12th December 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Book of Judges, in the Old Testament - Judges, Chapter 6 and verse 12:

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valour!”

What an encouragement!

Romans, Chapter 8 verse 31 says:

“If Christ be for us, then who can be against us?”

Remember, Gideon was from the weakest clan and he was the least in his father’s house.

But if The Lord is with us, then we can move mountains.

We can say, “But God…”

When people say, “This Covid 19 will never stop!” You say, “But God!”

When they say, “This lockdown will never be lifted.” You say, “But God!”

When someone ridicules you or someone belittles you, then you say, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”

Philippians Chapter 4 and verse 13.

One translation says, “I can make it through anything through the One who makes me who I am.”

Isn’t that beautiful. You see, it is not about us. It is about Him in us.

Another translation says, “The strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty. Mighty in God, not in ourselves.”

You see, God specialises in turning donkeys into race-horse winners.

You know, many, many miracles took place, and are still taking place, through the Mighty Men Conferences that are taking place throughout the world.

But for me - and I could sit here all day, telling you about the miracles that took place with the weather and finances, etc., etc., but for me, the greatest of these is when we see a broken man, a fearful man, a defeated man, changed in the space of one weekend, becoming a mighty man, just like Gideon, a mighty man of valour.

You know the letters that still bring a tear to our eyes, are when we get a letter, not from the men, funnily enough, but from a wife, a woman who says, “Thank You Jesus, for bringing back home this weekend, the man that I fell in love with twenty years ago.”

And the one that really makes us cry is when we get a little girl or a little boy, who is just learning to write in that big handwriting, and just thanking us for giving them a new daddy.

If Christ is for you, gentlemen, there is nothing to hold you back!

Now, go out into the world today and start living for your wives and for your children and for your country, because if Christ is for us, we have the victory.

God bless you and have a wonderful weekend.
