To quote Matthew, "This movie feels like a pair of bell bottoms that came to life and directed a movie." But does that make this movie less appealing to a modern audience? Is Charlton Heston good for this role? Does the script suffer by attempting to keep the big secret (spoiler: Soylent Green is people) until the very end? How would you feel about eating food supplements made out of people? This was recorded live on Discord. Prompting Questions ahead of this week's recording: 1. You never have to pay for food again. Eliminate that bill from your monthly budgeting. Instead it's replaced with 'soylent green' - (spoiler) it's PEOPLE (assume these people donated themselves ala organ donors). Would you trade the necessity of grocery shopping for a hockey-puck sized piece of soylent green if it would provide needed nutrition? A. Fuck yes, I've always wanted to eat someone. B. I would do it to eliminate my grocery bill. C. No, that's just gross and weird. D. I think it's immoral to eat dead people. Regardless of the deceased knowing this would happen. 2. Who is your 'hero' and who is your 'zero' in this flick? 3. Share some overall comments on Soylent Green.
