Philadelphia based advertising and editorial sports photographer Steve Boyle shares his thoughts on personal work, building a portfolio and relationships.
Steve attending University of Missouri's photo journalism school and shortly after began assisting Sports Illustrated photographer, Al Tielemans. After two years, he ventured off to do personal work and found himself as Photo Editor at Runner's World Magazine. There, he was able to learn about budgets and the costs of producing a shoot and left to be a full-time photographer. Steve shot several dozen top high school athletes for ESPN Rise and over time developed working relationships with Gatorade and ESPN.
