Description: My Guest this Thursday, June 30th at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk is Karen Lorene, owner and resident appraiser of Facèré Art Gallery, in Seattle, Washington.    Bio: Facèré Jewelry Art Gallery shows the work of 55 jewelry artists: northwest, national and international, as well as antique and vintage jewelry.   Karen Lorene is the owner of Facèré; publisher of Signs of Life: a Literary Journal, Buying Antique Jewelry: Skipping the Mistakes, and Celebrating 70, and recently honored with the Life Time Achievement Award from the Seattle Metals Guild.   Lorene launched her career as a dealer in 1972, selling “turn-of-the-century furnishings and doodads” on her front porch. Twelve years later, she opened Facèré in downtown Seattle. “I still can hardly wait to get here every day,” she says of Facèré (pronounced fa-cherry, it’s a made-up name meant to evoke handwork and sophistication). The gallery is itself jewel-like, a freestanding space in the lobby of the City Centre building, offering vintage pieces as well as contemporary work, such as Margaux Lange’s Giggles bracelet made from silver and deconstructed Barbie dolls.   For more about Karen and the Facere Art Gallery, visit http://www.facerejewelryart.com/index.php   Join us at blogtalkradio.com/whaleystudios for what should be an enjoyable conversation.
