	Description:		My Guest this Thursday, November 21st at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk is Noel Guyomarc'h, owner of Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h, Bijoux et Objets Contemporains in Montréal, Québec. About: Noel Guyomarc’h has been active in the field of jewelry for over 20 years. In 1996, he opened his own gallery dedicated to promoting national and international contemporary jewelry. Over 80 solo and group exhibitions have been curated or organized by Guyomarc’h, some of which travelled throughout Canada and the United States. A member of many international associations, he is regularly invited to jury and lecture and has recently acted as appraiser for The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Since 2002, he has been a board member of the Montreal Jewelry School and served as president from 2006 to 2012. In a few years, he gained an international recognition for his work in this field. Says Noel: "My work as gallery owner is to promote my artists’ work and to educate people about it. With the exhibitions displayed, the clientele has no choice but to ask questions if they are opened to new ideas, new concepts, new aesthetics. I say that jewelry has been chosen by many artists as a personal way of expressing themselves and communicating with an audience. And, as Susan Cohn writes in her book Unexpected Pleasures, ‘Contemporary jewellery has experienced enough to have a history.’ We live in an important period for contemporary jewelry. We can refer to our own history, even if some links to fine arts still exist. Craft techniques are now employed in the visual arts."
